I have been dying to do another reading for a few days now, but school holidays kept getting in the way. Finally got round to doing one today and it was worth the wait. This is very definitely a reading for a specific wave of divine counterparts and it does seem to link up with the reading I did on 15 December as there have been a few synchronicities between the cards that have shown up. (There are a lot of cards here so I have included close ups below).
Firstly, in the recent past/current situation... It seems there has been a lot of change, a lot of chaos and breaking down of the status quo (a lot of reversed cards too!). The four of swords reversed lets us know that our subject, the DM (or the inner masculine for some DFs), is in need of a break. They are involved in a highly stressful and demanding time and are in danger of burning out. The heat is on. (Interestingly sometimes that reversed four of swords can refer to stagnation, emptiness and frustration in a long-term marriage. I’ll just leave that there!).
The king of pentacles has also been reversed, and can point to someone who is feeling stuck in a rut, someone who has been particularly stubborn and rigid in their approach; and this has led to feeling dull and lifeless in their routine. This card can also indicate somebody who has been overly concerned with money and the trappings of wealth and who needs to make a change. For me, this DM has been in a situation where wealth and the trappings of wealth, the social standing they have achieved, has now been turned on its head and they realise that they are no longer somebody who wishes to be defined by their status. Their kingdom was found to be based in falsity and they have put their crown aside.
The burdens of the 10 of wands are also being put down. In the reading of 15 December, DM was still carrying their burden, although the end was in sight. In this reading DM has had enough of shouldering certain responsibilities and wants to move forward unencumbered. For a section of DMs this card also points to somebody who tries to do too much by themselves and needs to focus on self-care and well-being, as well as learning to ask for help from others. It’s not a stretch to see this being relevant to quite a lot of DMs as we know them, so this is something for them to be aware of now and something to learn about going forward. They need to see that they don’t have to carry every responsibility alone, that they can work with others and fill their own cup first sometimes.
These first three cards speak of quite radical changes. This is somebody who has transformed into a different version of themselves and who is finding value in the deeper things in life, rather than just skating on the surface and concerning themselves with how things appear, and even pushing themselves too far to keep up those appearances.
The second row reinforces this in my mind as the first card up is the four of wands in reverse. Somebody’s happy ending has ended. What seemed to be a fairytale has turned out to be something quite different and in that reversed seven of cups we see also the idea of wishes and dreams being turned upside down; of not living up to their promise. I’m hearing that somebody feels they “have not been given what they were promised”. I feel like this is coming more from the karmic partner than by DM, although obviously in these situations both parties can often feel this way.
This first section of the spread shows a breaking down of a situation, a destruction really, of everything that has been - and again there is that sense of life being turned on its head that we also saw in the 15 December reading. I keep seeing an image of an arm sweeping across a cart of apples and a knocking everything onto the floor, which I guess as a visual fully illustrates that sense of destruction.
In the bottom row of the first section we have both the queen of wands and the queen of swords (in reverse again). The words that came to me when I pulled both of these out were “the Queen has been dethroned, the karmic has been deposed”. What was built on shaky foundations, and maintained for the sake of appearances, is broken and cannot be repaired. Karmic is now out in the cold with that five of pentacles, and the knight of pentacles is no longer her Champion.
Moving to the second section - current/near future energies - we see the four of cups in reverse. This is a DM who has been thinking carefully and who is emerging from a period of detachment or stagnation. Where before the DM may have overlooked an opportunity or an offer, he is no longer distracted, unseeing. Now he is in a position to see true opportunities/gifts clearly and to act on those opportunities/gifts.
With the next card we see him once more in the eight of pentacles energy, working hard on himself, his mastery, his finances; on building up his reserves in order to be the next card - the page of pentacles, manifesting his opportunities and abundance. I love how the page sits there ready to hand over his gift to that queen of cups too.
Continuing with this sense of self mastery, abundance, and celebration, came the six of wands – which you may remember was reversed in the reading of 15 December and is now upright. The warrior has fought his battles and is now returning in victory. He is no longer being delayed in his progress, or forced to make plans covertly, he is standing in his power and not hiding his movements any more. This DM is riding forward with pride and success on his mind. He knows where he’s going now.
In future outcomes we see the queen of cups and the sun card side by side. The queen of cups is the DF, ready to receive the DM with her cup of love. Compassionate and intuitive, she knows her counterpart is on his way and understands what he has been going through. Sitting right next to this beautiful queen is the sun card, that beautiful symbol of happiness, positive energy, abundance and radiance. The world is shining brightly. The sun is also a symbol sometimes of the masculine himself, so in this sense I see the sun, with his placement next to the queen of cups, as being a DM who is now able to shine as himself. He is home (and so is the DF).
Working nicely with this wonderful combination is the six of cups, which brings that energy of reunion, harmony and generosity between two people who clearly care for each other, and the ten of pentacles which represents family, long term success and abundance - not just financial, but an abundance of love and a sense of community. This is where the victorious warrior in the six of wands is heading.
In the final small grouping of the reading I came out with three reversed cards, indicating an end of more difficult times and emphasising that sense of renewal and abundance coming in. Once more harking back to the earlier reading, came the two of wands reversed, having been in the upright previously. When this card was upright it spoke to me of a DM who was looking out on the ocean, wishing for escape from his castle prison and trying to work out how to do that. This card has now been reversed - DM doesn’t need to look wistfully into the distance any more - he has taken action and made his own way forward. Likewise he is no longer suffering the nightmare and pain brought with the nine of swords. Instead he has freed himself from mental anguish and moved forward into sunlight. The two of pentacles came up in reverse here as well, an indicator that there is no longer a sense of indecision or trying juggle two opposing ideas or situations. The decision has been made. Thought has turned to action.
On the bottom of the deck we see the DM moving forward as the fool taking that leap of faith – the second time the fool has come up In the outcome part of a reading. I think most of us know that this card represents a leap of faith, moving forward openly, honestly and with hope for the future.
All in all, after a very rocky start on that first section, it’s a beautifully positive reading and I’m really glad I was able to share it with you. I hope it resonates, and do remember that if it doesn’t resonate, it’s simply not your reading right now. There will be others, or there may be a time when this one does resonate - what is meant for you will find you xx
